Centre Approves ₹679.71 Crore for 4-Laning of NH-42 Mudigubba-Kadiri Stretch in Andhra Pradesh
The Central government has approved ₹679.71 crore for the widening and strengthening of National Highway-42 from Mudigubba to Kadiri in Andhra Pradesh's Sri Sathya Sai district, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said.
The project will upgrade the stretch from a two-lane road with paved shoulders to a four-lane highway. It includes a four-lane main carriageway, service roads, a flyover, a Vehicle Underpass-cum-Road Over Bridge (VUP-cum-ROB), and one major bridge.
The upgraded corridor will provide connectivity from Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts, as well as parts of Karnataka, to the Bengaluru-Vijayawada-Kolkata (BKV) Expressway, Tirupati and Chennai. It is expected to reduce travel and freight transit time, decongest traffic, and strengthen regional logistics and economic activity.
The approval forms part of the Centre's continuing highway investment in Andhra Pradesh, alongside other recent projects aimed at improving connectivity to religious and tourist destinations and key economic hubs in the state.
