Infrastructure  -  Jul 26,2024  -

Brakes India is set to build a new greenfield factory in Shoolagiri near Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

This facility, developed in partnership with ADVICS, Japan’s leading premium brake system supplier, will focus on producing advanced braking products for the Indian light vehicle market.

The joint venture, with Brakes India holding a 51% stake and ADVICS owning 49%, will involve a significant investment of ₹500 crore. The new production plant will be located in the SIPCOT park at Shoolagiri, pending land allotment from the State government.

“We have applied for land in the SIPCOT park at Shoolagiri and are expecting the allotment letter from the State government soon,” said Sriram Viji, Managing Director of Brakes India, in an interview with BusinessLine.

The State government has announced plans to develop a Future Mobility and E-Vehicle Park over 300 acres at Shoolagiri to attract manufacturing investments.

The joint venture will produce advanced braking control systems, including electronic and software components, with an initial focus on electronic stability control (ESC).
