Bihar Signs ₹22,500 Crore MOU with GRACE Pvt Ltd for Nuclear Power Facility, Anchors ₹51,600 Crore Industrial Package
The Bihar government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding worth ₹22,500 crore with Global Renewable Advanced Clean Energy (GRACE) Pvt Ltd to establish a nuclear power facility in the state. The project is aimed at diversifying eastern India's energy mix away from thermal reliance, providing low-carbon, non-intermittent base-load electricity to support the state's expanding industrial corridor.
Addressing corporate leaders in Patna, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary underscored the role of power infrastructure in driving regional economic development, noting that the government intends to translate investment proposals into on-ground projects quickly to generate industrial growth and employment.
The nuclear project forms the anchor investment within a larger ₹51,600 crore industrial MOU package finalised with 10 corporate groups. The broader package includes ₹28,626 crore committed across six steel and heavy-metal proposals, led by Nakshatra Iron & Steel, Ankur Steel, and Shri Langta Baba Metals, aimed at aligning power-intensive manufacturing with clean grid capacity to lower Scope 2 emissions.
The remaining agreements cover targeted commitments in textiles, pharmaceuticals, and health-tech, together expected to generate more than 27,000 direct jobs. State departments have been directed to fast-track land allocation and environmental clearances ahead of Bihar Business Connect 2026, under the state's "Build and Believe in Bihar" investment mandate.
