BHEL to Construct NTPC’s Super-Critical Thermal Power Plant in Telangana

Power Generation  -  Nov 15,2024  -

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been awarded the contract to set up a super-critical thermal power plant for NTPC in Telangana. This project will significantly enhance the region's power generation capacity and improve energy supply for both local and national demand.

As part of the agreement, BHEL will be responsible for executing the full scope of work for the project, which includes supplying equipment and providing technical support for the power plant. The super-critical technology being employed in this plant is designed to increase efficiency and reduce emissions, aligning with India’s ongoing efforts to enhance energy production while minimizing environmental impact.

The thermal power plant will be located in the state of Telangana and is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure. The use of super-critical technology allows the plant to operate at higher temperatures and pressures, leading to improved thermal efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. This will not only contribute to meeting the growing electricity demand but also support NTPC’s goals of optimizing fuel usage and reducing its carbon footprint.

BHEL’s involvement in the project demonstrates its continued leadership in the energy sector, especially in the field of power plant construction. The company has a long-standing relationship with NTPC, having previously delivered numerous projects in the power generation space.
