Axis Energy Partners with Brookfield's Lumara for 400 MW Solar Project in Nandyal District, Andhra Pradesh
Axis Energy has announced a partnership with Lumara, a renewable energy platform launched by Brookfield in India, to develop a 400 MW utility-scale solar power project at Nandipadu village in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh. Axis Energy will undertake the complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) scope for the plant.
The project's transmission infrastructure includes a 400 kV pooling substation and an associated 400 kV transmission line connecting the plant to the Kurnool-III CTUIL substation, enabling evacuation of power into the national grid. Commissioning is targeted for 2027.
Axis Energy joint managing director Kiran Kumar Reddy said the partnership combines Lumara's capabilities with Axis Energy's experience in renewable energy development and EPC execution. The company describes itself as having more than 1.5 GW of commissioned renewable capacity and an over 8 GW development pipeline spanning wind, solar and hybrid projects, largely concentrated in Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Lumara was launched by Brookfield to accelerate large-scale renewable energy development in India, with plans to deploy approximately $600 million and build an initial portfolio exceeding 6 GW across solar, wind and battery energy storage systems. The Nandyal project adds to a broader cluster of solar and wind-hybrid developments under way in the Kurnool region of Andhra Pradesh.
