Ather Energy Invests ₹122 Crore to Raise Electric Two-Wheeler Capacity to 11.4 Lakh Units a Year at Hosur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Plants
Ather Energy has approved capital expenditure of ₹122 crore to expand its electric two-wheeler manufacturing capacity. Total annual capacity will rise from 9.2 lakh units to 11.4 lakh units by Q2 FY28. The expansion covers plants in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
At the Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu, capacity will increase by 75,000 units, from 4.2 lakh to 4.95 lakh units a year. The addition is due by December 2026. It will add about 6,000 units a month from late 2026.
At Factory 3.0 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, planned capacity has been raised by 1.5 lakh units, from 5.0 lakh to 6.5 lakh units a year. This adds about 12,000 units a month by Q2 FY28. The Factory 3.0 expansion is still under construction.
The company says the added capacity is meant to address order backlogs and low dealer inventory. Ather will resume retail network expansion at the end of the current quarter to absorb the higher output. The source does not state the split of the ₹122 crore between the two plants.
