ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) India is set to establish an integrated steel project of 17.8 million tonne capacity in the Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh. The proposed investment is Rs 1.4 lakh crore.

The first phase of the project will involve setting up a 7.3 million tpa capacity blast furnace steel plant with an initial investment of Rs 80,000 crore.

The company has sought 2,600 acres of land for the first phase. In the second phase, AM/NS will add a capacity of 10.5 MTPA with Rs 60,000 crore in investment, requiring an additional 2,000 acres of land.

The company aims to have a steel manufacturing capacity of 40 MMTPA by 2035. Also, the presence of a captive jetty will help in sourcing raw material globally.

The integrated steel plant proposes to use sustainable green steel technologies and will have a value-added complex. It will produce a diversified range of flat steel products for the automotive sector.

The foundation stone of the project is expected to be laid in January 2025.
