AM Green Ammonia has lined up investment for its one million tonne (MT) green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, with the total funding ranging between Rs 13,000-15,000 crore (USD 1.5 billion).
The investment is split equally between equity and debt, wherein equity is being put in by Gentari, a unit of Malaysia's Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), as well as GIC of Singapore and ADIA.
Last year, the company, incorporated by the founders of Greenko Group Anil Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli raised USD two billion in equity from these new and existing investors.
This project will be located at an existing urea plant in Kakinada, with plans to convert this facility into a green ammonia-producing unit. It would commence production in the second half of 2026.
The project plan will include a green hydrogen generation unit and its conversion to green ammonia, along with all associated balance of plant (BoP) and infrastructure.
The facility has been pre-certified by CertifHy, as it is in line with the EU RFNBO requirements for green ammonia.
