Atomic Energy Regulatory Board has approved major equipment erection for Units 5 and 6 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
These units are part of India’s plan to expand nuclear capacity with Russian-assisted VVER reactors, each expected to generate 1,000 MW.
The approval marks a key construction milestone, enabling installation of critical nuclear components.
Once operational, the additional units will contribute significantly to India’s clean baseload power and long-term energy security goals.
