AEGCL Invites Bids for ₹455.90 Crore Sarusajai Substation AIS-to-GIS Conversion, Assam

Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL) has invited online bids for the turnkey conversion of the existing 220/132/33 kV air-insulated switchgear (AIS) Sarusajai Grid Substation into a gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation, located in Kamrup Metropolitan district, Assam. The estimated tender value is ₹455.90 crore.

The scope covers conversion of the substation with a transformation ratio of 220/132 kV, 4x200 MVA and 132/33 kV, 3x80 MVA, along with associated transmission lines. The upgraded facility will include provision for future expansion to a 400 kV substation.

The tender was opened on September 23, 2026, with bids to be submitted by September 28, 2026.

The Sarusajai substation serves the Guwahati region and is part of AEGCL's broader programme to modernise Assam's intra-state transmission network, alongside other ongoing GIS substation projects across the state under schemes including the AIIB-funded Assam Intra State Transmission System Enhancement Project and the World Bank-funded North East Region Power System Improvement Project. No specific completion timeline for the Sarusajai works was disclosed in the tender notice.
