Natural gas pipelines totaling 23,173 kilometres, including spur lines, are in use in the nation, and another 12,206 km are in various stages of construction.

In response to a question in the Lok Sabha on 20 July, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri presented this information.

The construction of a 33,592 km natural gas pipeline network in the nation has been approved by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), which oversees gas pipeline infrastructure.

The pipeline projects are being implemented by various entities including oil companies as per the authorisation by PNGRB. All natural gas pipelines are part of the ‘Gati Shakti National Master Plan’.
