₹108 Crore 4-Lane Road Over Bridge Foundation Stone Laid on Guntur-Nambur Railway Line in Andhra Pradesh
Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna has laid the foundation stone for a 4-lane Road over Bridge (RoB) on the Guntur-Nambur line in Andhra Pradesh. The project has been sanctioned at an estimated ₹108 crore.
The RoB will be 668 metres long. It will replace Level Crossing (LC) Gate No. 3 on the Guntur-Krishna Canal Section of the Guntur-Nambur Line. It will cover about 2.9 acres of land and is located near the Inner Ring Road of Guntur city. The bridge will connect Bus Stand Road directly with Gorantla village.
The project is expected to improve passenger safety and operational efficiency. It is also expected to save commute time, reduce fuel wastage and prevent vehicle detentions at the crossing.
Separately, 74 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh are being upgraded with modern amenities at a cost of nearly ₹3,500 crore. The source does not name the contractor or give a construction timeline for the RoB.
