A new six-lane highway project is being planned in Punjab to construct a greenfield Southern Ludhiana Bypass, covering 25.240 km, on a hybrid annuity mode under Bharatmala Pariyojana. Estimated to cost Rs. 6016.8 million, the project is part of the Ludhiana-Ajmer Economic Corridor Phase-I. As of December 2021, NHAI has invited bids for the project, which will improve connectivity, boost economic growth, and create new employment opportunities in the region.
