Web Werks-Iron Mountain JV acquires land for data centres in Chennai

Automotive Industries  -  Oct 11,2023  -

In order to meet the expanding customer demand in the area, the joint venture between Indian provider of data centres Web Werks and NYSE-listed Iron Mountain Data Centres has purchased a four-acre plot of land in Chennai to house two additional data centres.

The Chennai data centres, which are planned to be operational by the middle of 2025, would be built by the JV at a cost of more than Rs 1,800 crore.

The two data centres will support 36 megawatts of IT load and be constructed to tier III standards, further extending the company's quickly expanding pan-India footprint.

More than 90 megawatts of new construction in important markets like Pune, Bengaluru, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad would be supported by this expansion.

Mark Kidd, EVP & global general manager, data centres & asset lifecycle management, Iron Mountain Data Centers, said, “Our Pan-India expansion is focused on supporting our customers through their digital transformations and leveraging the rapid digital growth in the country. We look forward to bringing our core competencies of energy efficient, network dense and highly secure colocation data centers to this thriving market.”
