Waaree Transpower, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd, is investing approximately ₹192 crore to establish a new 500 MVA, 400 kV transformer manufacturing facility, expanding its power transformer manufacturing capabilities. The announcement was made on September 1, 2026.

The new facility is expected to become operational by April 2027 and will enable Waaree Transpower to manufacture and supply transformers across the 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV voltage classes. The expansion is aimed at meeting growing demand from India's expanding power transmission and renewable energy infrastructure.

Viren Doshi, Director at Waaree Energies, said the investment reflects the company's confidence in the growth of India's power infrastructure and rising demand for high-voltage transformation capacity, as renewable energy deployment accelerates the need to strengthen transmission networks and integrate new generation and storage capacity into the grid.

With this facility, Waaree Transpower is extending its capabilities across the power infrastructure value chain, moving beyond renewable-energy-focused applications to address a broader range of high-voltage transmission requirements. The company currently holds an order book of approximately ₹360 crore for execution in FY 2026-27, which it said provides a base for its next phase of growth and capacity expansion.

The investment forms part of Waaree Transpower's broader strategy to build a scalable, diversified electrical infrastructure business capable of supporting India's power sector, with future capabilities planned across renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid infrastructure.
