Starting June 2025, the Uttarpara plant of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) will start producing Vande Bharat sleeper trains.

According to an earlier report by Swarajya, on June 14, Indian Railways and a consortium led by TRSL and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) signed a contract for the production and maintenance of 80 fully completed Vande Bharat sleeper train sets.

Additionally, this was the first time a contract of this size for the design, production, and maintenance of full train sets over a 35-year period was given to a private sector company.

As per the official, the consortium, with a 52 per cent stake held by TRSL, plans to produce a minimum of 50-55 per cent of the train components in Bengal.
