During a road tour for the Global Investor Summit 2023 in New Delhi, the Uttarakhand government inked seven memorandums of understanding (MoU) totaling Rs 18,850 crore with companies from various sectors.
The largest MoU, at Rs 15,000, was signed with JSW Neo Energy Limited, under which two 1,500 MW pumped storages will be developed in Almora.
Aside from that, MoUs for Rs 800 crore were inked with Yatharth Hospital, Rs 500 crore with DS Group, Rs 250 crore with Dixon Technology, Rs 1,000 crore with Radisson Group, Rs 800 crore with Oberoi Group, and Rs 500 crore with SLG.
During the event, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Nivesh Mitras (Investment Facilitators) were appointed sector-wise for convenience of investors. They will be a single point contact for those investing more than Rs 5,000 crore, and to get NOCs from various departments.
"The scheme proposes to create two reservoirs in a 16 km stretch of Kosi river to provide drinking water supply to a large population and irrigation facilities for agriculture. The scheme will provide employment opportunities to 1,000 people," officials said, adding that the projects will be developed over the next five to six years.
