Infrastructure  -  Mar 05,2025  -

The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 1.96 billion for an 8.25 km expressway to the cargo terminal and a VVIP corridor for the upcoming Noida International Airport near Jewar, according to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

The 30-mtrs.-wide cargo terminal road is expected to be completed in four months, while the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will develop the 750-mtrs., 60-mtrs.-wide VVIP road.

YEIDA and NHAI have signed an agreement for these key infrastructure links to enhance connectivity as airport traffic grows. The VIP loop will serve as a dedicated emergency route between the Noida airport and the expressway.

Noida International Airport (NIAL) reported that terminal construction is nearing completion, with flooring, escalators, and roofing in progress. More than 90 percent of the Rs 100 billion first-phase budget has been utilised.

The airport is set to commence operations on 17 April, 2025, with an initial capacity of 12 million passengers annually. Plans for the second phase, including a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) hub and additional runways, are underway, with plot allotment tenders in preparation.
