UP govt allocates Rs 1,967 crore to expand sugar mills capacity

The Uttar Pradesh Government recently announced that it is expanding the capacity of sugar mills in Gajraula, Baghpat, Morna, and Semikhera. 

As part of this move, a Detailed Project Report has been submitted for technical upgrades at the Rudra Bilaspur Sugar Mill.

Altogether, the state allocated an estimated Rs 1,967 crore to boost the efficiency and productivity of sugar mills across various districts. In particular, Gajraula and Baghpat sugar mills will witness significant enhancements. 

The capacity will rise from 2,500 TCD to 4,900 TCD. For this, the government has earmarked Rs 545.52 crore and Rs 570 crore, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Morna Sugar Mill will increase its capacity from 2,500 TCD to 3,500 TCD in the first phase. 

Officials plan to submit the DPR for its second phase, which targets 5,000 TCD, by April 30. 

Likewise, Semikhera Sugar Mill will also undergo an expansion from 2,750 TCD to 3,500 TCD.
