UltraTech has commissioned an additional 0.6 million tonne per annum (MTPA) slag-based grinding capacity at its existing plant in Karur, Tamil Nadu.
This expansion follows the earlier commissioning of a 2.7 MTPA greenfield grinding unit at the same location in April, 2024, bringing the total plant capacity to 3.30 MTPA.
The additional capacity will help UltraTech meet the rising demand for composite cement in South India and improve its blended cement ratio.
With the Karur expansion, UltraTech’s total domestic grey cement manufacturing capacity has reached 166.91 MTPA. Combined with its overseas capacity of 5.4 MTPA, the company’s global cement manufacturing capacity now stands at 172.31 MTPA.
These strategic investments underline UltraTech’s commitment to strengthening its market presence and meeting the growing demand for high-quality cement products.
