Transformers and Rectifiers to set up new plant for solar and green hydrogen projects

Power Generation  -  Feb 22,2025  -

Transformers and Rectifiers India is setting up a new plant to manufacture transformers for solar energy.

Managing Director Satyen Mamtora said the plant will produce 150 transformers per month, specifically for solar and green hydrogen projects.

The new transformer will have a rating of around 12.5 MVA (megavolt amperes), and with this expansion, the company's total capacity will reach about 15,000 MVA.

It also plans to increase capacity at their Moraiya plant to 20,000 MVA, bringing their overall manufacturing capacity to around 65,000-70,000 MVA.

“Others are saying that they will be adding capacity by 2028,” he stated.

Mamtora said the annual demand for transformers in India is around 4.5 lakh MVA, while the current supply is about 3.8 lakh MVA.
