Ashok Leyland’s executive chairman Dheeraj Hinduja outlined two main objectives for future.
While the first aimed to bring Ashok Leyland on the list of top 10 global commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturers the second was to achieve net-zero emissions by 2048.
“The company’s growth strategy hinged on expanding into global markets and making a robust entry into the electric vehicle (EV) segment. The thought translated into action with AL’s entry into UP’s capital Lucknow. While the project would be launched during GBC 4.0, the bhoomi pujan rituals are due to take place on Tuesday,” Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, minister for industrial and infrastructure development UP said.
With an investment of Rs 1000 crore, AL is setting up a green field integrated commercial vehicle plant primarly focused on manufacturing of electric buses at scooters India Limited site in Sarojininagar.
The plant will also assemble electric light commercial vehicles and other buses and trucks that are powered by diesel, hydrogen, CNG and LNG.
