The government released a request for proposals for the first phase of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, which calls for the establishment of green hydrogen production capacity of 450,000 tonnes annually.
The SIGHT programme is a component of India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which was started in January and has a budget of Rs 17,490 crore for electrolysers and green hydrogen production capacity. Till the fiscal year 2029–30, Rs 13,050 crore of this will be used for green hydrogen capacity.
The pre-bid meeting will be held on July 28 with the last date of submission for submitting the bids set at September 7, as per the bidding documents. The Solar Energy Corporation of India, under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, is the implementing agency for the scheme.
Of the total capacities on offer, 410,000 tonnes per year of green hydrogen production is technology agnostic, while the rest is for biomass-based pathways.
