Telangana government has announced plans to invest in hydroelectric projects outside its state as part of its green energy push, starting with Himachal Pradesh.
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with energy officials, held discussions with Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Delhi regarding the state’s interest in hydro projects under the build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) model.
The initiative follows HP’s invitation for proposals to develop 22 hydroelectric projects. Telangana officials had previously visited Himachal to assess potential sites, identifying the SELI HEP (400 MW) and MIYAR HEP (120 MW) projects as viable options.
During the meeting, Vikramarka formally submitted Telangana’s interest and requested a draft MoU for review. If successful, Telangana may explore similar opportunities in other states.
