Power Generation  -  Apr 02,2024  -

The Telangana government plans to set up a hydro power generation plant in Himachal Pradesh. It seeks to invest to get cheaper power and meet the increasing demand of the state.

In this regard, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had discussed the proposal with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in New Delhi recently. The government may partner with private companies to offset the investment burden, and the power produced will be exclusively supplied to Telangana.

The government also planned to prepare a new policy on electricity generation and procurement, whose draft copy is getting readied. The policy will be aimed at meeting the electricity requirements for the next seven years (up to 2032) as the estimated peak demand will reach 27,059 MW from the present peak load demand of 15,623 MW.

Further, new plans are being prepared to promote initiatives in the area of solar power, wind power, pumped storage power and battery storage power, whereby solar power would be utilised on a large scale to meet electricity needs of the state from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
