Tata Motors is planning to initiate the production of electric vehicles at the Sanand plant, acquired from Ford India, starting in April.
The company aims to commence EV production with the NEXON EV from April, as informed by Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, a unit of Tata Motors.
Chandra said the company is also looking to produce upcoming models at the facility.
“We are also hoping that by the fag-end of this year, we should also be able to
introduce Harrier EV and the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of Curvv,” Chandra said.
It is learned that the company has already begun producing internal combustion engine-powered versions of Nexon at this facility. Tata had acquired this plant from Ford India for Rs 725.7 crore in January of last year.
