Tamil Nadu Environment Minister Siva V Meyyanathan said that a shared wastewater treatment facility will be established at the SIPCOT industrial complex at Perundurai in the Erode district.

The state government will invest Rs 40 crore to build the factory, the minister announced after touring the industrial area.

Minister for Prohibition and Excise Duty S Muthusamy accompanied Meyyanathan on a visit to the estate.

“The problem of water contamination in the villages surrounding SIPCOT will be resolved after the commissioning of the plant,” he said, adding that the plant will treat 20 lakh litres of untreated effluents.

The ministers also interacted with the villagers.
