The Tamil Nadu government has approved the establishment of six small textile parks in the State. Eight other micro textile parks are reportedly awaiting permission.
M. Vallalar, the Textile Commissioner for the Tamil Nadu government said that the plan had received at least 100 expressions of interest. The plan, which had lain dormant since 2015, has been revived by us. It will now begin to pick up steam," he remarked.
The plan provides a 50% subsidy, or Rs 2.5 crore, towards the development of shared amenities within a mini textile park. The park may be built on no fewer than two acres and three units.
The stakeholders should identify land, form a special purpose vehicle, and submit a detailed project report. Across the State, about 20 DPRs have been received for the scheme.
