SRF Board approves capex worth Rs 1,500 crore

Infrastructure  -  Oct 23,2024  -

The Board of Directors of SRF Limited at its meeting has approved two projects - fourth generation refrigeration plant and BOPP – BOPE Film (including Metallizer) at Indore.

The total investment in the project is around Rs. 1,545 crore. The Board has approved a project for setting up new facilities to manufacture fourth generation refrigerants at Dahej, Gujarat or any other location found suitable by the company at an expected cost of around Rs. 1,100 crore. The mode of financing will be internal accruals and borrowings.

These facilities aim to meet the future requirements of refrigerants with a significantly lower global warming potential (GWP) and help in lowering carbon footprint. The plant is expected to be capitalised and commissioned in about 30 months.

The Board of Directors has approved another project for setting up a manufacturing facility for BOPP – BOPE Film (including Metallizer) in Indore.

The proposed capacity addition is 60,000 MTPA (Nameplate) on BOPP at the capacity is to be added in 25 months. The investment is to the tune of Rs. 445 crore and the mode of financing is a mix of debt and internal accruals.

The rationale of this project is to explore expansion in business adjacencies. This project provides the company with an opportunity to expand its current substrate, BOPP, and venture into a new substrate, BOPE. Additionally, it aligns with the sustainability agenda, as polyolefin substrates like BOPP/BOPE are considered more sustainable due to their mono-family advantage and ease of recyclability.
