Skanda Aerospace Technology Pvt Ltd (SATPL), a joint venture between Raghu Vamsi Machine Tools in Hyderabad and Rave Gears LLC in the United States, has established a high precision gear manufacturing facility at the Hardware Park in Raviryala, Hyderabad.

The Hyderabad-based JV, which was formed last year with the US partner having 55% of the equity and the Indian partner (36% and investors holding the remaining 45%), has already invested Rs 75 crore in the first phase and aims to invest another Rs 150 crore over the next two to three years.

The facility will manufacture gears and gear boxes for domestic aircraft, helicopters as well as the global commercial aviation market. Touted as the first private sector gears and gear box manufacturing for helicopters in India, the facility will specialise in high precision CNC & complex aerospace gear manufacturing focused primarily on the global aerospace engine and gear markets.

While the facility has kicked off with about 150 employees, the headcount is expected to go up to 1,000 over the next three years, the company said.
