SJVN begins operation at Second Unit of Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project

Power Generation  -  Dec 01,2023  -

The Second Unit of the 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP) has been successfully synced with the National Grid, according to Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN Limited.

NMHEP is situated in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, on River Tons, a significant tributary of the Yamuna River.

The project consists of two 30 MW units, the first of which has been producing commercially since this month's 24th.

Nand Lal Sharma stated that Union Power Minister, R.K Singh and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivender Singh Rawat had laid the foundation stone of SJVN’s NMHEP in the year 2018.

“The construction period included torrid times of pandemic which affected almost every aspect of project development, still our dedication and hard work has resulted in completion of project in just over five years in geologically unpredictable & tough Himalayan conditions. The construction of project included excavation and lining of a 4.33 kilometre long Head Race Tunnel with diameter of 5.6 meters.” said Sharma.
