Singaporean firm Horizon plans for electrolyzer gigafactory in India by 2026

Power Generation  -  Sep 12,2024  -

HET Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Singapore-based Horizon Fuel Cell Group, has announced its preparatory activities with its long-term supply partner Indify Fuel Cell for establishing manufacturing facilities for GW-scale quantities of electrolysers in India.

The plan is being worked out to involve two stages, with the startup phase able to assemble at least 100 MW per year, expected to be operational by early 2026. Exact location of the plant is yet to decided, most likely in the coming months.

HET expects to play a key role with the new joint venture as India seeks to take a global lead in the adoption of hydrogen in several sectors under the Government of India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which foresees and incentivizes massive uptake of clean hydrogen in the country.

The company has already commercialized and is ready with Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers technology. HET Hydrogen is also preparing to launch MW-scale AEM electrolysers based on proprietary membrane and stack technology.
