Sembcorp Industries has been appointed to build, own, and operate a 300-MW wind-solar hybrid power project for NTPC. This initiative is part of NTPC's 1.2-GW renewable energy bid.
The hybrid power project will connect to India's inter-state transmission system and is slated to begin commercial operations within 24 months of the agreement's signing. Under the arrangement, Sembcorp will sell the power generated to NTPC through a 25-year power purchase agreement. Sembcorp highlighted its growing presence in the renewable energy sector, noting that this project will expand its renewable capacity in India to 5.4 GW.
The company has steadily increased its footprint in green energy, having secured nearly two GW from new greenfield projects in the past year. Globally, Sembcorp's renewable capacity now stands at 16 GW, a figure that includes an additional 49 MW from a pending acquisition.
This partnership underscores India's continued commitment to boosting renewable energy capacity and Sembcorp's strategic investments in sustainable power solutions.
