Sanmit Infra Ltd, a leading company engaged in the construction of real estate projects, supply of petroleum products and biomedical waste management, is planning to set up a bio CNG plant under the Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation scheme (SATAT).
The board of directors, at a meeting, has approved the proposal and the company expects to start work on the same soon. The project is part of the multiple expansion in its business operations that the company is planning for the next 2-3 years.
The board feels that the bio CNG project will support national commitments to achieve climate change goals and reduce the import of natural gas and crude oil while saving a lot of foreign exchange.
It can also stand as a buffer against crude oil/gas price fluctuations in the international market making the country self-sufficient.
The government launched the SATAT scheme in 2018 with the objective of setting up compressed biogas production plants and ensuring its availability in the market for commercial use in the automotive sector that will reduce the pollution levels substantially.
