U.S.-based industrial automation company Rockwell Automation plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The facility is set to open a 98,000 sq. ft. is expected to become operational in the first half of 2025.

The factory will be located at Sholinganallur SEZ, where its cubic manufacturing facility is located, thus creating synergies, leading to improved agility and productivity in the region, along with the potential to employ about 230 workers. Cubic specialises in modular enclosure systems for construction of power and electrical panels.The facility will make the company's supply chain more resilient in the Asia-Pacific region and globally. State industries minister TRB Rajaa stated the development will solidify Tamil Nadu’s position as an emerging global advanced manufacturing hub, and would enhance the region’s manufacturing ecosystem further. The company intends to build its presence in India, optimise global scale manufacturing and redefining industrial operations in this growing market. 

This expansion was made possible through discussions held by the Tamil Nadu industries department with Rockwell Automation at the World Economic Forum, Davos.
