RITES to prepare DPR for 44-km light rail system in Prayagraj

The preparations for launching the light metro in Sangam Nagri have escalated in the run-up to the Mahakumbh. 

The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has tasked the Railway consultant firm RITES Ltd with creating the detailed project report (DPR). 

The PDA would spend Rs 1.04 crore on this project.

The money will be paid to RITES at a rate of Rs 4 lakh per kilometre.

For the convenience of tourists in Sangamnagari, a 44-kilometer urban rail network would be operated by a light metro rail transit system.

The Uttar Pradesh Government will spend Rs 5,500 crore for this project and the first installment of about Rs 50 lakh will be paid to RITES Ltd for preparation of DPR within a month.
