ReNew Invests ₹20,000 Crore in Gujarat, Eyes Up to ₹1 Lakh Crore Across Data Centres, Renewables, and Green Hydrogen
ReNew has invested around ₹20,000 crore in Gujarat as of August 2026 and continues to expand its presence across clean energy generation and advanced manufacturing in the state. The company is also preparing for significant investments across emerging sectors, including data centres, pumped hydro and green hydrogen, as it strengthens its position in India's clean-energy economy.
The company has established two manufacturing facilities at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), around 100 km from Ahmedabad, and was the first corporate entity to establish an operating factory there. ReNew currently has around 2.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity and approximately 6 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity at the site, supporting India's push to boost domestic solar equipment production and reduce reliance on imported clean-energy technologies.
ReNew plans to scale up investments to between ₹80,000 crore and ₹1 lakh crore over the next few years across multiple sectors, including data centres, renewable energy, pumped hydro, green hydrogen and other emerging businesses. The company has not provided a state-wise or sector-wise breakup of this proposed investment, leaving the potential allocation for Gujarat unclear.
Vikram Kapur, Group President – Commercial, Regulatory and New Business at ReNew, noted that the company began operations around 15 years ago with its first project also located in Gujarat — a 25.2 MW wind farm commissioned at Jasdan. Since then, ReNew has grown into a company with an operational portfolio of around 20,000 MW.
