The Gujarat government has sanctioned a 1.50 km long bridge connecting a new Rajkot airport at Hirasar. The bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 150 crore.

The Prime Minister's office reviewed this project under the Gatishakti scheme. The proposed bridge will connect Rajkot city to Hirasar airport without facing traffic of Rajkot - Ahmedabad highway.

Among other projects discussed by the district collector was the Rajkot - Kanalus railway double line project in which compensation over land acquisition has been paid to affected people across 13 villages of Rajkot district but in 21 cases family disputes over Varsai are going on. The district administration has served the last notice to the concerned people.

The meeting also discussed the AIIMS project. According to the district collector, a 250-bed IPD (indoor patient department) will be inaugurated by the end of December.

The other things discussed were the last phase of works on the bridge towards Morbi Road and land acquisition for the construction of a bridge on Jamnagar Road.
