Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL) and Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) have entered in to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish thermal power projects with a total capacity of 1,600 MW in Telangana.

As per the agreement, both Rajasthan and Telangana will receive 800 MW each. Additionally, RVUNL has planned a 1,500-MW solar park in Rajasthan, with land already identified. The solar park alone will require an estimated investment of Rs 6,000 crore, while the combined investment for both projects is projected to reach Rs 22,000 crore.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stated that Rajasthan aims to produce 125 GW of solar energy by 2030. The state government has secured investment agreements exceeding Rs 28 lakh crore through collaborations with central undertakings, including the Rising Rajasthan investment summit in March 2024. Furthermore, an MoU worth Rs 10,000 crore was signed between Power Grid Corporation and RVUNL, reinforcing the state's commitment to expanding its energy infrastructure.
