Infrastructure  -  Jan 10,2025  -

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has approved the extension of Delhi Metro's yellow line to Narela, instructing Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for extending the metro.

This comes following Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta's letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 27, requesting the extension.

In addition, on December 6, the Delhi BJP Legislative Party led by Gupta met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar and submitted a memorandum regarding the same.

The Delhi metro informed Vijender Gupta via a letter that the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs have instructed DMRC to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for extending the Metro to Narela.

"In a meeting held between MoHUA and DMRC recently, the proposal for extension of the yellow line to provide Metro connectivity to Sonipat via Narela was discussed. In a meeting held recently, MoHUA directed DMRC to take up the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the extension of the yellow line from Samaypur Badli to Narela (DDA sports Complex) and further extension of Red Line (Line No 1) from Nathupur (Kundli) to Sonipat. MoHUA accorded in-principle approval on 08.10.2024 for the preparation of DPR. Accordingly, various field surveys i.e. Topographical survey and Traffic survey are in progress for the preparation of DPR," the letter by DMRC to Gupta said.
