Power Generation  -  Mar 04,2024  -

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to mark a significant milestone in India's energy sector as he lays the foundation for various projects of the state-owned power giant NTPC, collectively valued at Rs 30,023 crore.

According to a statement by NTPC, PM Modi will dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation for a series of projects on March 4, 2024, underscoring a major leap towards sustainable development and economic growth.

Among the projects to be inaugurated, PM Modi will dedicate Unit-2 (800 MW) of NTPC's Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-I) situated in Peddapalli district, Telangana.

This project, with an investment of Rs 8,007 crore, incorporates ultra-supercritical technology, ensuring optimal power generation efficiency while significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

The commissioning of this unit is expected to bolster power supply in Telangana and ensure round-the-clock availability of affordable and high-quality power nationwide.

Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate Unit-2 (660 MW) of the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (3x600 MW) located in Jharkhand. With an investment of Rs 4,609 crore, this project marks India's first supercritical thermal power project, equipped with air-cooled condenser technology to minimize water consumption.
