PGI plans to set up new 150-bed critical care block

Hospitality and Healthcare  -  Apr 08,2025  -

The PGI plans to come up with a new 150-bed critical care block. The premier medical institute has submitted a  comprehensive proposal to the Chandigarh administration for approval of drawings of its new block.

The building, planned within PGI premises, will incorporate various architectural elements and essential facilities for patients, staff and visitors.

The urban planning department's concept approval is required initially, followed by the plan approval committee's (PAC) consent, headed by Chandigarh DC, for construction authorisation.

The urban planning department's primary focus will be to evaluate the project's alignment with the Chandigarh Master Plan to preserve its fundamental principles.

Key assessment areas include the critical care block's floor area ratio (FAR), visitor and staff parking provisions, building circulation space and associated plans.

Post urban planning's concept approval, the proposal advances to the PAC, led by Chandigarh's deputy commissioner.

The committee will conduct thorough evaluations and coordinate with relevant UT departments to grant operational permissions.
