PepsiCo to establish a snack manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu

Manufacturing  -  Apr 03,2025  -

PepsiCo will establish a manufacturing plant in Manapparai, Tamil Nadu, on a 28-acre plot in the SIPCOT industrial park. The facility will produce various snack items, including potato chips.

This expansion aligns with PepsiCo India’s strategy to grow its snacks manufacturing capacity. Manapparai, known for its ‘murukku’, is being promoted by the Tamil Nadu government as a major food park.

In 2023, the company had announced a Rs 778 crore plant in Assam, expected to be operational by 2025 or early 2026. PepsiCo has also invested in expanding one of its largest greenfield food plants in Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to PepsiCo, Manapparai will host JABIL, a key supplier to Apple, Cisco, and HP, which is setting up an electronics manufacturing facility with a Rs 2,000 crore investment. The project is backed by an MoU signed with the state government in September 2024.
