PCBL Chemical Limited (formerly PCBL Limited) has received approval under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) for its proposed Acetylene Black project, involving an investment of approximately ₹329 crore. The clearance came under the fifth tranche of the ECMS from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and was disclosed to stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.

The project centres on acetylene black, a critical conductive material used in lithium-ion batteries and other advanced industrial applications. The company said the investment is expected to support development of the domestic advanced materials ecosystem while strengthening local supply chains and reducing dependence on imports.

The initiative is backed by PCBL's active technology transfer agreement with China's Ningxia Jinhua Chemical Co., and represents the company's move to diversify from its base in rubber carbon black toward advanced specialty and battery-grade conductive chemicals. The ECMS approval provides a policy-backed framework for the investment, combining state-level and central government incentives.

PCBL Chemical said the project is expected to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, generate skilled employment opportunities, and enhance its participation in the global value chain for advanced materials, particularly as India's electric mobility, energy storage and electronics manufacturing sectors continue to expand. The company has not disclosed specific project execution milestones or a completion timeline in its exchange communication.
