ONGC inks agreements to connect natural gas fields with North East gas grid
Petroleum - Jul 18,2023 -Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) and Indradhanush Gas Limited (IGGL) have inked three hook-up pacts to connect the former's natural gas fields with the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) for transportation of natural gas.
Indradhanush Gas Grid Ltd is building a 1656 km long natural gas pipeline that will connect the eight north eastern states' capital cities and demand centres. The ONGC natural gas fields will be connected to the IGGL pipeline for natural gas evacuation more easily thanks to these hook-up agreements.
Sanjay Kumar, Director IGGL gave a speech at the event and stated, "The hook-up agreements are a strategic step to increase the connection of ONGC fields with the Northeast Gas Grid which will benefit both the firms. Customers will be able to access domestic petrol through it, and the country's economy as a whole will benefit. The hydrocarbon potential of North East India can be fully harnessed for the development of a gas-based economy in accordance with the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 of the Government of India by utilising the NEGG infrastructure."
In the future, both businesses will search for chances to connect other ONGC gas fields with the NEGG, according to Dr. Ajit Kumar Thakur, CEO of IGGL.
