OIL Green Energy Signs MoUs With Four Haryana Municipalities for ₹5,000 TPD Waste-to-Clean-Energy Projects
OIL Green Energy Limited (OGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharatna CPSE Oil India Limited (OIL), has signed Memoranda of Understanding with the municipalities of Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar and Ambala to develop integrated Compressed Biogas (CBG) and Waste-to-Energy projects across Haryana. The MoUs were signed on August 30, 2026, in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with senior ministers, Members of Parliament and officials from the state government and OIL/OGEL.
The four proposed projects will be developed across the Hisar, Ambala, Faridabad and Gurugram clusters, with municipal solid waste processing capacities of 500 TPD, 900 TPD, 1,600 TPD and 2,000 TPD respectively, collectively totalling 5,000 tonnes per day. The facilities are expected to produce 70-75 tonnes per day of CBG and generate approximately 50 MW of green power.
Under the integrated waste-to-clean-energy model, municipal solid waste will first undergo scientific pre-processing and segregation to maximise resource recovery. Recyclable materials will be separated and recovered, while the wet and biodegradable fraction will be converted into CBG. The non-recyclable dry fraction will subsequently be used to generate electricity through the Waste-to-Energy facilities, reducing dependence on landfills.
The projects are expected to be operational by October 2028. For OIL, the collaboration is expected to strengthen OGEL's role in developing large-scale waste-to-clean-energy solutions and expand the company's presence in the low-carbon energy segment, while also strengthening Haryana's municipal waste-management infrastructure.
