NLCIL emerges as successful bidder for coal mine block in Odisha

NLC India has emerged as the successful bidder for Machhakata coal mine in Angul district of Odisha.

This was declared subsequent to the commercial coal block e-auction held on 02 February, 2024 by the Ministry of Coal. This is the second commercial coal mine block for NLCIL and the company is committed towards its capacity addition in line with the corporate plan.

The block has a total coal reserve of 1,377 million tonne, with a peak rated capacity of 30 MTPA.

In the regulatory filing, NLC India said," The coal mine block is having a total coal reserve of 1377 million tonnes(aproximately) with a peak rated capacity of 30 million tonnes per annum."

"This is the second commercial coal mine block for NLCIL and the company is committed towards its capacity addition in line with the corporate plan," the statement further added.

Tamil Nadu-based NLC, under the Ministry of Coal, operates three opencast lignite mines with a total installed capacity of 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at Neyveli.
