NHPC to establish 1,200 MW solar project at Rs 797 crore outlay

NHPC has announced to set up a 1,200 MW solar power project with an outlay of Rs 796.96 crore in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 March, 2024 laid the foundation stone of the solar project virtually.

The Jalaun Ultra Renewable Energy Power Park at Orai in the Jalaun district will be developed by NHPC's subsidiary, Bundelkhand Saur Urja. The proposed park and will generate about 2,400 MUs (million units) of electricity every year, and will be constructed in 24 months from the investment approval.

Bundelkhand Saur Urja is a joint venture (JV) of NHPC and UPNEDA, and will be engaged in further augmentation of its installed capacity in future at the same site and such other solar projects, as entrusted by the government of UP to the company including preparation of preliminary feasibility and detailed project reports, construction, generation, operation and maintenance of power stations and projects.

NHPC, under the Ministry of Power boasts capabilities to undertake all the activities from conceptualisation to commissioning of hydro projects.
