NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with V.O Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) for the establishment of a Green Hydrogen Hub at VOCPA, Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Bimal Kumar Jha, Deputy Chairman and Chairman (I/c) (VOCPA), and other senior officials by VV Sivakumar, GM (NGEL), and V Suresh Babu, CME (VOCPA).

The MoU envisions NGEL and VOCPA collaborating to create a Green Hydrogen Hub for the production of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives, such as Green Ammonia and Green Methanol, on land supplied by VOCPA for export and domestic use.

This comes in the backdrop of NTPC’s Green Hydrogen initiatives and announcement by Sarbananda Sonowal, minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for development of V.O.C port, Paradip port (Odisha) and Deendayal port (Gujarat) as Hydrogen Hubs.
