The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the five-kilometer (2.5 km in each direction) extension of the subterranean Metro Line 3 to Navy Nagar has been finished by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC).
According to an official, the DPR is currently awaiting state government permission.
The intention to expand Metro 3 to Navy Nagar was first made during the 2022–2023 budget address by Ajit Pawar, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government's deputy chief minister and minister of finance.
A request to the state government from the Indian Navy office served as the impetus for it.
